The video game series Metroid is an icon of the sci-fi subculture of the late 20th Century. A few years ago, Ridley Scott produced a live action film adaption of the first game, which was set to be released in theaters this year. Now, it appears that the film has been pushed back to 2019, and will be the first installment of the new Metroid film series.
The second installment of the Metroid Dread Trilogy was released yesterday by Retro Studios. A new trailer has been released giving us more of an idea of what to expect from the game, which some are saying is more of a spiritual successor to Metroid Prime, while others are saying it’s more of a re-imagining of Metroid.
Out of all the video games I’ve played, Metroid 2 is easily my favorite. It’s a game I play over and over again whenever I need some inspiration. It’s such a special game for me, as it is the first time I’ve ever felt like I was truly part of a world. Everything was so detailed and thought out. The story was one of its best features, and that’s why I feel it deserves to be remastered at some point in the future.

You can see a list of her skills below, which include both classic and new moves:
- Flash Shift — This brand-new Aeion Ability allows Samus to move a predetermined distance in a moment, whether on the ground or in the air.
- Pulse Radar – Samus may use her Aeion Ability to scan her immediate surroundings and locate breakable blocks.
- Samus may use the Grapple Beam, a rope-like beam that can attach to particular locations, to swing over gaps or control elements of her surroundings, such as dragging an item.
- Ice Missile – Samus may utilize this amazing upgrade to freeze opponents, allowing her to easily kill them or even use them as platforms!
- Samus may use the Storm Missiles to latch on to several tiny missiles and launch them all at once.
- The powerful Cross Bomb bursts in four directions.
- Speed Booster – This ability enables her to run at a high rate, causing damage to opponents and breaking past specific barriers.
- Shinespark — True Metroid fans are well-versed in this electrifying ability, which allows Samus to fly in a specific direction when in her Speed Booster condition.
- Screw Attack — A famous technique that has appeared in every 2D Metroid game, the Screw Attack sees Samus do a spin leap to damage opponents and shatter specific barriers.
